ABOUT US
The purpose of the Foundation for Neighborhood Health Education, Inc. is to influence the health behavior of individuals and neighborhoods through the dissemination of educational materials and connections to needed health services, resulting in the reduction of health disparities. The Foundation's core initiative and program will be the Health Ed Express mobile health education unit. The purpose of this initiative is to bring resources directly into neighborhoods to provide opportunities for developing health literacy. We plan to offer accessible opportunities for individuals to learn more about their healthcare and habits. The mobile van will promote health, foster healthcare advocacy, showcase health leadership in neighborhoods, and empower them to become confident advocates for themselves and others.
The interior of the mobile unit will be designed to create opportunities for peer-to-peer community health interactions. Furthermore, the van will be equipped with audio and visual capabilities for workshops. Our programming will break down language and cultural barriers in order to communicate health information more effectively, by tailoring it to the individual in ways that make sense to them. Visitors will have access to free health literacy resources and receive guidance to navigate healthcare and learn to advocate for themselves.
