Our founder, Dr. Gloria Sarto, passed away on June 8, 2024. Her most recent professional achievement was establishing the Foundation for Neighborhood Health Education. Before her passing, Dr. Sarto laid the groundwork for the Foundation, which will be co-operated by her family and a select group of her most trusted colleagues. While this innovative project is new to Dane County, Dr. Sarto previously operated a mobile health van in Chicago’s underserved Cabrini-Green area in 1984. The brightly colored van was named “Health Express.” We are excited to announce the new iteration of this initiative, the Health Ed Express mobile unit, which will hit the streets of Wisconsin. The Health Ed Express and the Foundation for Neighborhood Health Education aim to continue and honor Dr. Sarto’s legacy by directly bringing vital health information and resources to those who need them most.
